With over 25 years of experience as a professional chef and restaurant owner under his belt, Chef David embraces ever opportunity to help mold and groom future chefs through his Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program. He is excited for the impact they will make on the restaurant scene in Chicago and worldwide.
In honor of his late mother, David often volunteers as a chef instructor in Sinai Hospital’s Block by Block program in the North Lawndale Community. He enjoys teaching parents and children, with Type 2 diabetes, recipes and better eating habits through his engaging and energetic live cooking and nutrition demonstrations.
He frequently does cooking demos at Bloomingdales department stores utilizing some of his culinary arts program students to connect classwork to the real world. From his industry and college connections, David has awarded over $10 million in scholarships to his culinary students to continue their education.
David feels it is important to entertain when you educate today’s child. He is an adoring father of twins and is an active parent at their school, Skinner West. On occasion he’s been seen in the school’s classrooms providing fresh fruit smoothies and fresh vegetables for student snacks.
As a syndicated food columnist of “Chef D’s Kitchen,” David offers recipes and cooking tips found weekly in newspapers nationwide. David has appeared on a number of TV shows on ABC 7, BET, WGN and the TV Food Network. He uses these opportunities to share inspirational messages about having a passion for your craft and is grateful to share it with others
